"An overall good experience"

About: Daisy Hill Hospital / Female Medical

(as the patient),

Over my lifetime I have been in hospital on many occasions, with my first trip to Daisy Hill Hospital being at the age of 5.  Over the years, I have had many good experiences as well as bad. Thankfully, my most recent stay has been excellent.

After being referred to a consultant through my GP, a bed was made available for me up on the female medical ward.  I was so very happy and glad to have gotten the bed - as well as very grateful for the fact I was examined and seen so very quickly.
All the staff have been super -they are just so very kind and explain everything.  I would like to specially mention my doctor. She explained everything so very clearly - she made sure to use terminology that I would understand and she really could not have been any nicer to me.
Having had many hospital experiences, I can happily say that the food is so much better than it used to be which I am very grateful for.
All the nurses which have been involved in my care up on the female medical ward have shown such kindness and I am yet to meet somebody who has been in anyway unpleasant.
The only thing that I find a shame is that you don't get to see the doctor at the weekends, so you have to wait until the Monday morning to receive a proper update as to how things are progressing. However, I am entirely understanding that the Doctors also need a break.
Overall, my recent stay in Daisy Hill Hospital's Female Medical Ward has been a positive one and all the staff should be commended.

Thank you for your feed back. The staff of female medical strive to make every patient experience positive from admission to discharge. I will speak with my medical colleagues regarding your experience at the weekend, medical cover is present at the weekend however it is prioritized to those who need urgent review or to those who need admitted.

Going forward can I just reassure you that if you are ever in female medical again and would like to be updated by a doctor at the weekend, please express this to your nurse and we will try to vacillate this for you.

I am glad to hear you enjoyed the food- nutrition plays a vital part to your recovery, I will pass on your nice comments to my medical and catering colleagues.

once again thank you for your positive feedback
