"Care and devotion"

About: University Hospital Monklands / General Medicine (Wards 2,10,12 and 17)

(as a relative),

My dad was admitted to ward 10 Monklands Hospital to have fluid removed because he was needing a liver transplant. Monklands Hospital gave my dad a chance and admitted his to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to see if there was anything they could do for him. Unfortunately Edinburgh told the family that dad was not fit enough to go through the transplant and he would be transferred back to the Monklands.

When my dad was in Ward 10 the nurses were absolute amazing and let the family come and go as they please which meant we could spend longer with my dad in his last few days. My dad could not thank the nurses enough for the care and devotion he was giving in the Ward.

I honestly from the bottom of my heart can't thank each and every one of the nurses in Ward 10 for the help, advise and care that they gave not just to my dad but to the whole family.

I have spoken with Carol the manager and advised I would like to raise funds for the ward by doing a parachute jump and also holding a raffle.

I would like to put something back into the ward just to say thank you so very much from all the family for looking after my dad

Dear Huge thank you

Thank you for taking the time to write of your experiences of ward 10, Monklands Hospital, I appreciate this is a very difficult time for you and your family.

As you know Carol, the Senior Charge Nurse has promoted Open Visiting for all patients and their families to promote health and wellbeing and for patients like your Dad who sadly did not recover from his illness, being able to spend as much time as possible together in their last few days. Being surrounded by our loved ones is so important, I hope this valuable time brings you comfort.

It is my pleasure to share your comments with the ward team and I think you are both very generous to fundraise for the ward and incredibly brave to agree to do a parachute jump.

Please accept my sincere condolences and extend these to your family.

Kindest regards

Ruth
