"I felt I wasn't on my own"

I attended an appointment at Day Surgery at Wishaw General Hospital in February to have surgery under a general anaesthetic to remove a large skin cancer on my lower back. From the moment I arrived for the surgical procedure in the early morning till I left hospital later that afternoon, the staff were so friendly, helpful and informative. They explained everything to me from the nursing staff to the anaesthetist and plastic surgeon. I felt I wasn’t on my own and that they were there to support me despite the ward being busy.

It can be such a worrying time attending hospital for a procedure and it must have been so reassuring to have attentive staff who shared all the information you needed with you.
