6 months ago, on the evening of my 70th birthday I suffered a heart attack. I was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert where I suffered a second heart attack. I was rushed to Edinburgh Royal infirmary and within 12 hours of my first heart attack I had received 2 stents and was making a positive recovery. 3 months ago I received news that I had stage 0 breast cancer and needed an immediate Mastectomy. This had to wait until 6 months after my initial heart attack, in June. The tumour was around 10cm in length. I had my operation in Forth Valley Royal Hospital and after a successful operation I spent my recovery in the Ambulatory Care ward. It is this ward I would like to highlight to you. My recovery was longer than anticipated, due to low blood pressure, and I would like to mention the fantastic care and professionalism shown by the nurses, Jilli, Laura, Megan, Susan, Dee and Emma as well as Mr Seth my surgeon. The care and attention was exceptional, nothing was a bother for them and the NHS should be proud to have this front line team representing them. I am now cancer free and making a positive recovery. I hope you can find some way to acknowledge the dedication so all the staff in that ward and pass on my heart felt thanks.
"The NHS should be proud to have this front line team"
