Had an appointment with GP at Notley Green, Braintree. Had lack of breath and fatigue on exertion. Organised ECG with nurse within 15 minutes. GP phoned rapid response cardio and chest clinic but no appointments so spoke to medic on A&E.
Reviewed ECG, prepared letter and told me to go to hospital. Triaged to Resus and wired up to 12 lead monitor. Saw 2 consultants and had superb care from drs and nursing staff. Blue light transfer to Essex Cardio centre by East of England ambulance service. Admitted to HDU at Basildon. Echo undertaken by Registrar and treatment plan formulated. Saw consultant before 8am next morning and pacemaker fitted at 4pm. Monitored and visited by consultants and released from hospital at 12 noon - everything completed in under 48 hours!
I cannot speak highly enough of the calm and reassuring professional staff that dealt with me from GP to Ambulance service and Essex Cardio Centre. This was the NHS at its very best and my care was unsurpassable.
"An everyday visit to GP as I thought"
