This has happened on a few occasions now.
Why, after receiving treatment are patients told by the doctor to book a follow up appointment for X amount of weeks (typically 4-6 weeks) only to be told by reception that this is not possible and will more likely be 3 months. I believe the doctor has mentioned a time scale for a reason.
My last experience, I received a letter after a "virtual appointment" telling me that a further letter would issued for a meeting with the doctor within 8 weeks. 11 weeks later, still no letter so I called the hospital. After checking, they had address wrong so any correspondence would have been sent to wrong address however a date was found at Wishaw for the 25th of Jan 2019, 17 weeks after the virtual appointment and over 22 weeks since my last treatment.
It feels to me like back log is always the excuse. This system is not the answer. .
I now eagerly wait for my next appointment to be completed and then to be told to come back 4 weeks later for further treatment. Better put my holiday in August 2019 on hold just in case.
