"Endoscopy unit: care with a human face"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary / General medicine

I recently had a colonoscopy in the RLI’s endoscopy unit.

I cannot praise the unit highly enough. The system was very efficient, and the staff—every last one of them—were marvellous throughout. It was the first time I had had this procedure, and I was very nervous. The staff noticed this, and were absolutely lovely. Small things like the doctor laying a comforting hand on my arm as the procedure got underway made all the difference. The nurse who chatted to me throughout deserves a special mention too. Let’s face it, a colonoscopy is a fairly embarrassing procedure, so it is important that patients are treated with dignity and respect, and this is what I experienced in spades at the RLI. I really want to thank everybody involved in my care that day: you all made it much easier than it might otherwise have been. (By the way, the endoscopy department isn’t an option on this form, so I selected ‘General Medicine’ because I had to select something!)

Hello, thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It's lovely to hear that you received the care and compassion needed during your procedure, and were treated with dignity and respect. We have passed your kind words onto the teams involved, who we know will really appreciate them. Thank you, and all the best.
