I have been attending St. John’s hospital in Howden for at least 4 years and earlier this year I had my second mastoid operation.
Aftercare was appalling including the attitudes of the ENT secretaries who come across as uncaring and that you as a patient are a burden to their day, with no compassion or empathy.
I am going deaf now as a result of my illness and was measured up for a hearing aid as it is important for me to be able to hear my tutors as I am currently studying a course. This course has also given me the knowledge that patients receiving this care should not be treated in this way.
I am still waiting today to hear about my hearing aid after I was measured 9 weeks ago and find myself chasing up appointments yet again!
After finally speaking to someone with regards to when I will get an appointment to receive my hearing aid, which I was measured for in mid October 2017 I have been advised that I will receive an appointment in February 2018 so double the length of time the audiologist advises which was 6-8 weeks.
"I felt like a burden"
