"I felt the care and compassion when speaking with them"

About: Highbury Hospital

(as a service user),

My feedback is about the Care and compassion on Rowan 2 and from the Highbury Live Project and the OTs. I was recently sectioned in Highbury Hospital and although the staff were busy they made me feel 'better' and I felt the care and compassion when speaking with them. They talked to me whenever they could and the Occuaptional Therapists also helped by taking me off the ward on some occasions. They too were very caring and compassionate and it helped when I got involved in music and drawing.

I went to the allotment as much as I could and even though I don't like gardening it felt so 'normal' to sit having a cuppa and talking about football and other things with the staff. They were so kind to me that it made me cry.

Please pass on my thanks to all the staff that made my stay at Highbury whilst very distressed that much less harrowing.

Dear sadlady,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post such a lovely feedback about your experience whilst in Highbury hospital. I shall make sure your comments are fed back to all the staff on Rowan 2, Highbury live and the Maples.

I’m so pleased to hear your enjoyment of the allotment; I sometimes escape there to eat my lunch, such a calm and tranquil place to have a bit of time to relax.

I wish you all the best for your continued recovery.. from your post you are a football fan so must be looking forwrad to the new season!

Kind Regards

Jo Horsley

Dear SadLady

I also want to thank you for the kind words and feedback. It is always lovely to hear nice comments. I will ensure that the whole OT team will have the opportunity to read your post.

We do strive to be caring and compassionate. We always endeavour to provide some therapuetic space and time as another alternative to the ward environment. It is useful to hear that this helped and that you found some benefit in music and drawing.

We do believe that various activities can provide some assistance at difficult times.

Wishing you the best for your ongoing recovery

Thankyou again

Dear SadLady

Thank you for taking the time to send feedback to the Live Team. I have forwarded your comments onto the team and they are really pleased that we were able to help make your stay at Highbury more manageable. We are very lucky to have the allotment/garden on site and while we feel it is a lovely space to visit it is important that we get feedback from those that use our service. We are holding an open afternoon on the allotment on 14th September which you would be more than welcome to come along to. Many thanks again.

Best wishes

Ruth Taylor
