"My mum's 3 week stay in Washbrook ward Ipswich hospital."

About: Ipswich Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

Mum had medical and mental health problems during her stay. Staff were almost all kind and helpful and nearly always there was a very high standard of care. They were always willing to communicate and inform me of progress. I was able to be in Ipswich for only part of the time but they were always helpful when I telephoned. It was however frustrating when the phone was not picked up which could happen for quite long periods. The ability to leave a message and get a call back when staff were free would have been welcome

I am a retired pharmacist and observed all staff acting professionally except for one occasion when a nurse appeared to substitute one medicine for another without any authority. I stopped this dangerous Practice happening and reported it to the sister in charge. I didn't see that nurse again so perhaps she was an agency nurse who was not re-engaged.

Overall I was very impressed with the care of staff on Washbrook ward and would like to thank them

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your comments regarding your Mothers treatment and care whilst on Wasbrook ward. I have passed your comments and thanks onto the Ward Sister for her attention, to action where possible and to share with her team. Many thanks
