I gave birth in September 2016 in kgh, I have been thinking about writing this for a while as it has really bothered me the way I was treated. It was my first labour we had rang the ward to say I was really struggling to cope, they told us they were really busy and to try to relax stay at home. Rang 2nd time they said the same thing again. Eventually 2 hours later I was screaming I couldn't cope anymore I was in agony and my partner rang and said that is it I'm bringing her in weather you like it or not. We arrived and it took us a good five minutes to get in as I was collapsing to the floor unable to walk, we got took to a little old side room where I was checked and she said oo your 9CM.. I said I wanted the pool and she said your too late for that.. too late.. I rang up bloody hours ago and you told me I had to stay at home. I am annoyed I dealt with all that pain at home when I wanted the pool, I gave birth in the small room (again annoyed I never got a nice refurbed room) after my birth I told the midwife I was bursting for a wee, she said il go get you a chair to get you to a toilet, 20-30 minutes later she still hasn't returned and I was nearly in tears shouting at my partner I was going to wee myself, I got up and he helped me walk to the toilet then she saw us and said oh hang in you need a pot to pee in. I was took to a nice refurbed room that was all nice and own bathroom and clean so why was I never put into that at the start? I couldn't fault the nurses on the ward upstairs they were lovely. But the actual birth was very traumatic and I was left feeling like I was to much bother to deal with.
