"Moving House to Avoid this Hospital"

About: Eastbourne District General Hospital / Cardiology

I collapsed at home with multiple organ failure and was moved to the cardiac support ward where I went into cardiac arrest. I had spent 13 hours in a corridor waiting for a bed and suffered the indignity of having to use a commode in front of strangers'Three attempts of CPR were carried out (where was the defibrillator?) I was then sent to ICU where I cannot fault the staff for the care while in a coma. I was then sent to an all male ward where I was left with my body exposed and the curtains left open.(I am female) I am still waiting for appointments with a cardiac specialist and all of my hospital test results and am not holding my breath.

We are deeply disturbed to read about your experience at Eastbourne DGH during March 16. Please be assured, we take the issues you raise very seriously and would dearly like an opportunity to speak with you, so that we can investigate what happened in more detail and take appropriate action.

If you are would like to do this, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS).

They can be contacted on 01323 435886 (or by email at: esh-tr.PALSH@nhs.net).

They will liaise with the General Manager and Head of Nursing responsible for Cardiac Services on your behalf, and organise a meeting, or telephone conversation.

Please accept our sincere apologies that your experience was poor, and for the distress this undoubtedly caused.
