"Plastic Surgery Unit Is A Joke"

About: The Royal Victoria Infirmary

I have visited the Plastic Surgery Unit twice for an ongoing problem. Firstly appointments should be called Apointlessments. As that's exactly what they are. The first time I went I waited 3 hours and 45 minutes to be seen, I wasn't the only one. The second time I waited 2 hours and 37 minutes to be seen for a 5 minute consultation which they could have wrote in a letter to tell me that even though I pay for the NHS service they can't help me so I have to live with my ongoing pain and discomfort. So 3 years down the line from my initial surgery at Wansbeck Hospital where my surgery was botched and I'm left with constant discomfort and a hideous scar for all to see and I'm told to get on with it. We'll thank you NHS, you have clearly failed in your ability to help me as an individual. All you saw was £££ that clearly I'm not worthy of needing spent on me. If I knew then what I know now I would have told u all to go run and jump and put my hand in a vice and fixed the problem myself.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments about your recent visit to the Plastic Surgery department on NHS Choices. We would like to apologise that the waiting time and consultation fell short of your expectations. As you are aware, the clinics are busy but it would be very unusual to have such lengthy delays. We are unable to investigate the precise details about your clinic appointments as we do not have your full details however, whenever a clinic is delayed the staff on duty should inform patients and tell them how long they may be delayed. We apologise if this did not happen and will highlight your comments to staff in the clinic concerned. We cannot comment on the clinical information that is contained in your e-mail but if you would like to discuss this further Matron Sue Cook is available on 0191 282 9192 and is happy to take look into your concerns.
