On 20th January, my colleague, Charlotte, and I delivered a workshop designed for anyone interested in collecting meaningful feedback from children and their families through storytelling. This session introduced attendees to Care Opinion Bear - our warm and friendly guide who helps children feel safe and heard when sharing their experiences of health and care services.

With a heart as big as the mountains and ears ready to listen, Bear is here to make feedback fun, approachable, and child-friendly. We walked everyone through the storytelling process step-by-step, using Bear to help children express their thoughts in their own words and in their own way.

We also explored how to effectively promote and frame the ask - the way we invite children to share their stories - so it feels natural, respectful, and empowering. We shared real examples for ideas on how to promote in different services.

We shared how to search for stories told by children for story reading and reporting, as well as looking at some of the stories already written by young people on Care Opinion.

During the session, we asked attendees 3 Poll questions and you can see the results below.

1. Why do you want to get feedback from your patients or service-users?

2. Do you currently use Bear to promote Care Opinion?

3. How do you feel about asking for feedback?
