This research chat was part of the Care Opinion Spring Conference 2025, recorded on 29 May 2025
For this chat, we were honoured to welcome two respected US academics, Prof Rachel Grob and Prof Ingrid Nembhard.
We discussed their recent research on the impacts of narrative patient feedback on the quality of care and the culture of health care teams. The findings of this work have international significance in confirming that patients really can help improve care for the patients who follow them, and in understanding how this happens in practice.
- Prof Rachel Grob, Director, Qualitative and Health Experiences Research Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
- Prof Ingrid Nembhard, Professor of Health Care Management at the University of Pennsylvania
The studies we discussed in this session:
Learning from Patients: The Impact of Using Patients’ Narratives on Patient Experience Scores (Nembhard et al, 2024)
“Nothing Is More Powerful than Words:” How Patient Experience Narratives Enable Improvement (Grob et al, 2024)
I hope you enjoy the chat!
