My wife fell and hit the back of her head, quickly loosing consciousness requiring a 999 call for an ambulance. The first responders arrived quickly and acted swiftly to stabilize and calm what had the potential to be a highly charged situation, occurring as it did, in a busy hotel bar during a reception after a late friends funeral.
The first ambulance crew on the scene, recognizing the potential severity of the situation immediately called for back up from more experienced and suitably qualified colleagues who also arrived quickly and acted in an exemplary manner throughout. The care, emotional support and help given to my wife and to me was top drawer. My heart felt thanks and gratitude go to Kim, Tara, Dave, Karen and Diana who were a credit to themselves first and foremost but also the organization that they represent. The A&E Department at Gloucester Royal Hospital also deserve our thanks for their professional and caring approach throughout our thankfully short stay under their care.
