I had to go to A&E last night following advice from the on-call oncology doctor. As I am on chemo and previously classed as CEV, I was very nervous about going.
When I walked into the waiting area, there was barely any standing room. I am not exaggerating, it was overwhelming to see in person. From the lovely receptionist who sent me to a quieter area to wait, to the nurses who were overwhelmed with patients and queries, to the reassuring doctor, I want to pass on my gratitude and thanks. I was so well looked after.
They each apologised different times for the length of time it took to be triaged (over 2 hrs), to getting bloods done,(over an hour), to wait on results, and get a scan, etc. As I left at 6 am this morning I met the lovely triage nurse on my way out. They remembered me and asked if I was OK, and it was so nice when I told them I got the all clear.
I have no idea how many patients the nurse had seen between my initial triage at 11.20pm to 6am, but could not believe they genuinely remembered me. I just want the staff on duty last night that dealt with me to know you are all amazing, compassionate and truly priceless .
