"Patient transport service"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / GP Out of Hours Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service

(as a parent/guardian),

I phoned NHS 24 and was given an appointment for 10:30pm for my daughter to be seen. I was told patient transport would pick me up in time for appointment.  So I kept my daughter up and waited outside till 10:45pm.  No transport arrived so I came back up to house. I couldn't find a number to phone to see what was going on.

My daughter fell asleep.  I got a phone call at 11:42pm to say the transport was outside.  I explained that she was now sleeping and I wasn't waking her and I also didn't have a babysitter now as they went home after the failed pick up.  The person on the phone said the driver was outside and I will need to wake her.  I said I wasn't as her appointment was for 10:30 pm not later.  They then informed me it had been rescheduled for her to be seen.  I said I wasn't aware of this and when she fell asleep my brother/babysitter went home.

They then said so are you refusing to come?  I know my daughter needs to be seen but I can't wake up 3 young kids and drag them out now at this time of night with no-one available to watch my boys.

Dear Mumof3m

Thank you for your feedback.

I am sorry to read of the experience you have mentioned. In terms of the Scottish Ambulance Service involvement, please may I ask if you can contact our team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your daughter's name, your address and the date of this incident. This will allow me to establish if the transport was provided by The Scottish Ambulance Service and I will be able to investigate this matter for you.

Kind Regards

Lesley
