"3 hour wait in A&E"

About: Balfour Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My 4 year old son was asked by the GP to go to A&E at 5pm. We waited 3 hours and gave up then as we did not get seen.

Dear turkeybb57

I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with the wait at our Emergency Department (ED) with your son.

Our staff hope to see patients as quickly as possible when they arrive in ED but at times this can be difficult due to emergencies or patients with complex needs.

If you would like to contact us directly on ork.feedback@nhs.scot and provide more details, I would be very happy to look into what happened and offer you a full explanation.

I am very sorry again that you experienced a longer wait than expected in ED and thank you for taking the time to share with us what happened.

Julie
