My daughter was referred by the GP to the dermatology clinic back in March, for a lump on her head. We received a letter to say they did need to see her. We went back to the GP 3 months later as the lump was growing and we got re-referred back to Dermatology in August. We received an ultrasound scan in the post. After the scan, the sonographer stated they did not know what it was and we might or might not be seen.
I waited 6 weeks and I asked my GP if they had heard from Dermatology. I got told I had to phone myself to find out what was going on. After phoning three days in a row, and no reply, I contacted the GP again. They wrote to Dermatology to say my daughter had been referred to plastics and radiology. I asked when we were going to be seen. They said we just had to wait.
I contacted my Health visitor as I was really worried. They gave me an email address for Dermatology. I received a reply to say my daughter's case was complex and an MDT meeting was being held. No one in the hospital has seen her face to face, apart from the sonographer. I can't understand how a meeting can be held about a patient when they are unsure what the lump is and also, no one has seen it in person.
I received a letter today to say I had missed this appointment, but I never received an appointment. I'm so angry about the way we have been treated. No communication and also, this has left me worried about what is going on. It's not good enough. I'm also angry that we were not seen back in March because if we had been, it might not have been so complex.
"Lack of communication"
