As a first time mother I was extremely nervous to be sent to Scarborough hospital due to not being able to get a bed at my local hospital, York.
I was so well cared for and I never felt that I wasn’t aware of what was going on. I was in the hospital for 4 days and in all this time everyone did their best so that my fiancée would be there as much as possible since we weren’t near our family and friends.
I had my son at the start of July via C-section. The days leading up to it, all the procedures I had and the birth were as good as they could be.
The staff there are truly amazing and caring. I went on recommendation and I can say I would 100% opt to go to Scarborough if I was to have another baby.
As I said my partner travelled everyday but the girls did everything they could to ensure he was there if I was to have the baby at any point, they guided us and tried to give us as much of an idea as possible of how things would go with the baby.
During labour I had 2 midwives (one of which a trainee). I wouldn’t of known she was a trainee if she hadn’t told me. They stayed with me and my fiancée all day and I hoped they would be the ones to be there for my baby’s arrival but that wasn’t the case unfortunately.
I even taught them some Romanian (my first language). They were amazing at taking my mind off things and helping me though it. They loved how my fiancée was so involved and caring and even joked about offering him a job.
I cannot thank those people enough. Through induction, long labour, epidural and birth I was constantly monitored.
Having a baby is such a special, intimate thing and I am so happy those women and men got to be part of it. I will forever remember them and all the help.
Thank you so much for all the care, our son is now nearly 4 months and a beautiful, clever little baby.
