"Hand injury"

I'd had a fall while on holiday and injured my hand quite badly--by the time I got home I realised that it was more serious than I'd originally thought. I found myself struggling to get through basic household tasks and do my job, which involved using a computer.

The folks in minor injury at the Ulster Hospital were very efficient and friendly--x rays and examination quickly confirmed that I'd not fractured the bones or severed any tendons, so I was referred on to Specialist Hand Therapy clinic. I was really pleased to get an appointment quickly and to get ushered into my first appointment on time.

The occupational therapist was friendly and understanding, and was able to provide me with a range of exercises as well as the confidence to do them, with tips on how to integrate them into my daily routine.

My two follow up appointments (one in person and the final one via Zoom) maintained that same level of excellent care—the staff really genuinely seemed committed to getting my hand fully functional and spent the time needed for me to feedback on progress.

I was discharged today (because I’m delighted to say that my hand is now back to full working order) with the invitation to get back in touch if I develop any further difficulties.

I was truly impressed by the efficiency and the efficacy of the service. Many thanks to the staff at the Minor Injury and Specialist Hand Therapy services at the Ulster: excellent job!
