In early October I had surgery to repair a long-standing shoulder injury which had become painful and restrictive in older age.
The procedure was carried out at Forth Valley Hospital, Larbert. I had two GP appointments, two physio programs, two orthopaedic consultations, one ultrasound over a period of a couple of years spanning the Covid crisis. Well worth the wait. Mr Moses, the surgeon, and his team were fabulous and I’m delighted with the outcome. I had a repair to a torn supraspinatus tendon and to separated biceps tendons via keyhole surgery under general anaesthetic and a brachial nerve block. The whole thing was entirely pain free and I’ve remained extremely comfortable throughout rehabilitation and ongoing physiotherapy. The care and professionalism of all the staff from cleaners and porters to anaesthetists and doctors was outstanding. The hospital facilities and equipment were first class and the staff were brilliant, reassuring and attentive. Some staff were under specialist training and supervision of them was thorough and their care excellent. Everything was explained and there was ample opportunity for me to be part of the decision making process.I’ve fortunately rarely used the NHS but we are so lucky to have this service in the UK.Thank you everyone!
"Brilliant surgical experience"
