"My Mam's care when she had a heart attack"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cardiology / Coronary Care Unit Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / General Surgery Gilbert Bain Hospital / Accident & emergency Scottish Air Ambulance

(as a relative),

Mam became poorly quite suddenly and although she is 82, she is a very fit and active lady, so her heart attack was a big shock to her and to our whole family. Staff from the GP to the staff in A and E acted very quickly and ensured she was safe and received treatment as soon as was possible.

She was so well cared for by everyone in our local hospital before being flown by air ambulance to the Scottish mainland for 'surgery' where yet again she was looked after so well with care, respect and kindness.

I wanted to highlight that not only was she looked after but we as family members were also treated with kindness and care which made such a difficult experience so much easier to bear.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this post about the care your mother received ahead of being flown by air ambulance to Aberdeen. Our teams are always very pleased to receive such positive feedback about how people experience the service provided.

It is also good to understand how you felt as family members at what must have been an anxious time.

We would echo Catriona's hope that your mother is making a good recovery.

Best wishes

Carolyn

Dear LAMS

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion.

I am so sorry to learn about your mum's heart attack. This must have been extremely distressing for her, and for yourself too, what a worrying time indeed.

I am so glad your mum was well cared for by everyone and also that all family members were shown the kindness you describe along the way.

If you would like your kind comments to passed on to staff from The Scottish Ambulance Service, I would be more than happy to arrange this for you. If so, please may I ask you contact us at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with your mother's name, address and date of when we attended to her. Please may we also ask you make reference to your Care Opinion username which will allow us to link to this story.

Thank you once again

Best wishes to you all

Lesley
