I thought I had a normal 10min appointment with a doctor for a problem I had had for two and a half weeks.
I got to the surgery and was seen by a student doctor who said it would take about 30min and a doctor would see me after. They asked me questions about my lifestyle and the problem, did a quick examination (which as we were alone I wasn’t all happy about), told me what they thought the problem was, and then said they’d ask the doctor to come and do a quick examination and let me know what was wrong.
Came back and said the doctor was in a meeting but should be with us in about 10-15min. After 15min they went to find out what was happening and came back to tell me that the doctor couldn’t come for another 5-10min at which point I said I couldn’t wait any more as I had other things to do as was going away the next day.
Not sure how they felt, but I wasn’t happy. I hadn’t been told beforehand that it was going to be a student doctor that I would be seeing , and we would be alone.
In case of any future appointments I would like to be told who I will be seeing and whether they are a qualified doctor.
If you do replies to these, I would like one .
