"Poor experience in A & E"

About: Stepping Hill Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was in A&E for over 7 hours, when I was told the waiting time would be a maximum of 4. The nurse in triage were really friendly and were the only people who were kind and welcoming.

The doctor seemed quite junior and I found them to be extremely rude. They laughed when I had told them about myself.  I cannot remember exactly what at, but they burst out laughing directly to my face. I was confused and in shock.Then they did not seem to believe me when I said I had pain which comes and goes and then shoots randomly. At that moment it hadn’t come but I knew where the pain is located.  They suggested that it didn’t exist and didn't seem to believe me. I felt like they were trying to make me feel dumb and stupid. I was genuinely disgusted.

I was fed up so I decided to leave. The doctor then called up and said that they had called out my name and I had just left and made me wait and your prescription is irrelevant over the phone so bye.

I feel they were a junior doctor and in my view not fit to work with people. I won’t ever be coming here again

I am sorry to read about your experiences at A&E at Stepping Hill Hospital. As a Trust we would expect staff to support people kindly while in the department.

I have shared your feedback with the Lead Nurse and Consultant for the department and asked for a response which I will share once it is received.
