"Great fast appointment but lack of follow up."

The wait for an investigation ultrasound was rather long, waiting over 3 months from my original GP appointment.  On the appointment day, everything went smoothly and I nearly enough walked straight into an appointment room for my scan.  The staff were wonderful and I was surprised about how quick it was.  

During the scan, the technician hardly talked and didn't explain what was happening. 

I was informed I would be contacted in a week for my results.  I spent the next 3 weeks in pain and confusion as I had no contact. I called up my GP, where I was informed of an accidental finding and referred for further investigation.  

It's rather frustrating that I was left in pain for so long because I thought I had to wait for the department to get back to me. I would have been fine if I was told I need to call my GP after a week.

Thanks for you feedback regarding your ultrasound scan. I would like to apologise that, on this occasion, some aspects of your care failed to meet the high standards we strive for.

Following completion of the ultrasound examination you should have been asked to contact your GP after 7 days for your scan results, there clearly seems to have been some mis-communication regarding this.
