We received excellent, personalised care from the team at the Maternity Ward. We were admitted with our newborn son to treat his jaundice; this is a common but worrying complaint in newborn children depending on the cause. The maternity team were excellent in their reassurance, support and advice.
Three midwives in particular were exceptional with their bedside manner, support and advice; especially with regards to breastfeeding support.
The Healthcare Assistant team were diligent and well organised, with two staff members in particular overnight showing exceptional care and compassion.
Food was served regularly in a buffet style cart, which supported my wife to mobilise and select food she felt comfortable eating. This is a great idea to get people moving, especially when inpatients default to bed rest (which is recognised as potentially detrimental in some posters we have seen).
The only negative part of our resoundingly positive experience was the parking, which I understand is under review for a potential multi-storey carpark. This is a much needed facility, as patients and carers had very limited options for parking and queued around most of the parking areas.
Thank you to all staff at the Maternity Ward; you are an excellent team and we would not hesitate to return should it ever be required.
