My mum, in her nineties, was discharged from hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Glasgow, after having being admitted due to a delirium brought on by an infection. She was clearly still very unwell, in fact worse than she was when admitted.
The next day our GP stated it was a failed discharge and referred her back to hospital. We arrived approx 16:00 at the IAU. We waited in the waiting room until around 10:00 pm when we were taken into the ward area.
At approx 11:00 pm we were told that a doctor would not be available for several hours still, and they got mum into bed and I went home. She was finally seen around 8:00 am on the Saturday. This delay, despite having been wrongly discharged the previous day, was appalling and totally unacceptable.
