I was submitted to CCU after suffering a cardiac arrest. As you would expect, I was placed in an induced coma once I arrived at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Once I woke up and became more aware, I was extremely pleased with the time staff took to speak to me in order to help me understand what happened to me. I guess more importantly explain the steps I would face going forward.
I found Kevin from CCU Ward 20 particularly attentive. Kevin took time to visit me when I had been moved to Ward 1. Overall, I found all staff polite and helpful. The staff did not always get things right first time (minor issues), however it was heartening that they made sure to involve me in decision making throughout my time in their care. Everyone from porters, nurses, doctors and consultants were attentive, though Kevin displayed exceptional willingness to make sure the service received was great.
Importantly, I was not rushed or hassled at any point in my stay, which helped me both mentally, physically and emotionally.
Thank you one and all, with a special thank you to Kevin😁
