"Need to know the location of the vanguard unit"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Endoscopy

(as the patient),

I don’t have a story to tell but would like to know where the VANGUARD UNIT is located, as on my letter it don’t give any information on where the unit is located.

It would help if they actually put a map in the letter to show patients where it is located as I cannot find the place on google or google maps.

Dear Davm93

I apologise that we have not informed you of the location of the Vanguard unit. It is an important learning point that we will take forward.

The unit is located at the West wing of the hospital outside ward 8. There is a car park in this area so I hope that you will be able to find this on arrival to the site.

Sorry that we had not provided this information in the letter.

Thank you again for raising

Lise

Update posted by Davmz93 (the patient)

Well, when I got told over phone for directions I got told to head left towards A&E department and follow the road all way round to which I did. The walk with my asthma made be out of breath, I stopped and asked a NHS worker for directions, they said same rather than telling me to turn around go back way I come and follow that road up towards roundabout to which would have only been a 5 min walk.

I walked the whole building and not one sign post to say where it was and I got told there was. This is ridiculous, especially when I am not from the area.

I will be emailing the head of NHS and local cllr to have this addressed and will be emailing NHS minister of Scotland to bring to their attention to get more signposts.

Dear Davmz93

Again I apologise that there are no sign posts to direct you. As I said yesterday, we are already making a change to ensure there are adequate directions sent out to patients with their appointment details. I will also request that we address the signage across the hospital.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. My sincere apologies for the distress caused.

Lise
