"Face to face support"

About: Telford STaRS

(as a service user),

Drinking wine daily became a drinking problem. Relationship problems, habit and being alone have caused this. Met Natalie at the Wellington Hepatitis mobile clinic, by complete chance and she mentioned Telford STaRS, by complete chance and I followed this up a few weeks later when I realised I needed help.

STaRS, Emma and Anne, have been helpful by allowing me to register and sending me a NHS inclusion, Alcohol-taking control workbook. (Inclusion, MPFT NHS,2020).

The workbook has been very helpful in setting a positive tone and allowing me to express feelings without being judged. The book demonstrated that other people feel exactly like me and suggested strategies for not drinking to excess.

I will meet Anne from STaRS the coming Thursday as my first face to face support.

Hi Pigletnose, thanks for your response. Great name by the way.

It is often by chance that we meet others who provide us with information that can be of help. So glad our mobile clinic was in the right place at the right time and well done for taking the initiative in following this up. It's great that you realised you needed support and have taken action. It is often that alcohol use leads to other problems, or that those problems lead to alcohol use, it's the chicken and egg scenario, which one came first?

Glad the workbook has supported you, is positive, has provided clarity on some steps to take to help you safely reduce your alcohol intake and shows you that many feel as you do. Therefore your not alone.

I will send a message to Natalie, Emma and Anne to advise of your post on here. Good luck in your recovery and I am sure all will go well with your face to face support.

Take care

George - Service Manager
