I was taken to Grimsby hospital via ambulance after feeling generally very ill. I had Covid but have a lot of other medical issues. We finally rang for the ambulance when I was vomiting blood. I will keep this as short as possible.
I was kept in the ambulance for over 7 hours. After about 3 hours a nurse came out to see me and I had blood tests done in the ambulance. I was never offered food or a drink.
I was eventually taken in and put in a side room in A&E on a trolley. Here I stayed for 20 hours. I didn’t have a pillow and had 1 blanket thrown on the bed. Again I was not offered drink or food in all this time.
The 1 drink I did have was a cup of tea when I first got into A&E. It was actually made for me by a very kind doctor, who also was very apologetic about the wait I had had. The staff were extremely busy, but basic care surely should be offered in a hospital?
This has made me very concerned for any future visits I should have.
