"We will always be grateful for your loving care"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Acute Medical Unit (AMU) 1 & 2 Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Wellington Ward

(as a relative),

On the 11th of August our dear grandmother was taken from this world.

Her journey whilst in your care was nothing but exceptional from the ambulance service , who called me personally to update me to the admitting team in ED that found her a bed on AMU . Each and every person that we spoke to showed so much care and compassion.

The  care  she received whilst on Wellington Ward was superb and cannot be faulted in any way. Not only did they care for my grandmother as they would their own family, they cared and comforted the rest of the family.

For this we cannot thank you enough, the team on Wellington Ward made what was one of the worst days of our lives very peaceful and respectful and we cannot thank you all enough. Everyone made the last few hours of her life so very perfect letting us all see her that one last time.

We would like to mention a few members of staff that touched our hearts: Milly, Katlin, Lyn, Sam and Lauren, they all eased our worries . To Jenny, the doctor whose care and compassion is out of this world, communicating with the family daily, making the whole thing a little more bearable.

To Charlotte and your team, a huge thank you for being so kind and allowing us time with her. Nan would have loved you all and we know she passed away in good care.

Words will never be enough, but please know you will all be in our hearts and we will always be grateful for your loving care.

Hello Keoghn02

Firstly, please accept our sincere condolences for the loss of your grandmother. Please, also, accept our apologies for the delay in getting back to you on here.

Thank you for sharing your story with us and for all of your lovely and kind words.

I am so pleased to see that your grandmother received such a high level care from the ambulance, to AMU and on Wellington ward. Also that you and your family received care, compassion, comfort and communication which made the situation more bearable for you.

I am writing to you as a member of the Patient Experience team, but I will ensure your feedback is forwarded onto the appropriate team, we will also make sure that Milly, Katlin, Lyn, Sam and Lauren, jenny and Charlotte all get a special 'thank you' through our Learning from Excellence scheme - I am sure they will all be touched to receive it.

Best wishes

Megan

Hi Keognh02,

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review during what I can only imagine is a very difficult time for you. I will share your comments with the team on Wellington.

We are so sorry for your loss, but grateful that this difficult time was made easier by the staff on the ward.

Kind regards

Shelley
