I took my husband for an appointment for ophthalmology. As his mobility has not been good. I tried to park in cliff gardens car park near the outpatients entrance. But all the spaces where full. So I had to go around again and park in the same car park but up near where they are doing the building works. He walked with a walker but only got as far as A & E and couldn’t walk any further, so I saw a paramedic and she got me a wheelchair which was great.
But having to navigate going down the hill towards the outpatients is not very good when pushing a wheelchair down it and something I hope I won’t have to do again!!
Whilst we were at the hospital after the appointment my husband was meant to go this Tuesday for an X-ray on his knees, so I thought if I went to the X-ray department and see if they could do it whilst we were there which they did which was great. Which we are very grateful that they could do it.
Coming back to go back to the car I thought I would see if I could move the car down to the outpatients end of the car park which I couldn’t as there was no space. So I then ended pushing my husband in the wheelchair up the hill, which was not easy as you can’t cut through A & E now but had we of been able to it would of been a lot easier. The hospital need to think about people with mobility problems in wheelchairs as had they not of being extending on the old block we could of used that entrance to get in and out of which would of made things a lot easier.
