"I don’t know what people are talking about"

About: Shefford Health Centre

I just wanted to put a positive review among the stream of negative.

I have type 1 diabetes and neuropathy of the foot, I had a fall and have a nasty gash in my toe. I didn’t want to bother A&E so I dressed it myself and called the GP practice the next day.

I was on hold for about 30 minutes, but when I got through I spoke with a really helpful receptionist who got me a nurse appointment straight away.

The nurse was amazing, she dressed my foot, reassured me and give me an appointment for a redress and check there and then for a few days later.

I can’t fault this surgery. I understand it’s difficult to get an appointment, but they are stretched by the GP shortage and with Shefford growing at an rapid rate they are doing their best with what they have.

I’ve honestly never had a problem getting an appointment when following the correct channels.

There are plenty of pre-bookable appointments if you can wait a few weeks (which lets be honest most can).

I think people have an expectation that the NHS should drop everything and see them, but they have to triage and will offer first come first served appointments and if you’re an emergency they will fit you in, alternatively if you’re that I’ll, that is what A&E is for.

Thank you Shefford Health Centre, I for one am happy with the service you have provided.
