"It felt just like a home away from home"

About: Inverurie Hospital / Midwifery

(as the patient),

We had our second baby at the Inverurie Maternity Unit. The staff were all amazing, and the birthing experience at the maternity unit was brilliant. Having had our first child at Aberdeen Hospital, the Inverurie Maternity Unit was by far a better experience. The Inverurie Maternity Unit was more intimate, friendly with a really high level of care and support.

The staff were brilliant, supportive, listened and advised us the whole way before, during and after the birth of our son. I was grumpy and in pain and the midwives and staff were nothing but supportive, reassuring and offered the best care and advice. The staff went over and above to ensure that my husband and I were relaxed, had food, were comfortable and had everything we needed. We cannot thank them enough for all they did for us.

Once the baby was born the level of excellent care continued. We were checked upon regularly. Everything they were doing was clearly explained and any questions we asked were answered in depth.

We had several visits to the midwife unit before the birth for additional scans etc, and each time we were there the staff went over and above to answer questions, offer advice and information and were all round extremely supportive.
My 3 year old daughter came to several appointments with me (due to lack of childcare) and the staff were so friendly and accommodating towards her, it really put me at ease. They also involved her with discussions regarding the baby which was lovely.

Having only opened within the last few years the Inverurie Maternity Unit is fresh, clean and modern. It felt just like a home away from home. I would highly recommend the Inverurie Maternity Unit to any future parents looking into their birthing options. For us, it truly was a far better birthing experience than in Aberdeen Hospital.

Dear hazeln2

Congratulations on the birth of your second baby. It will be a busy time for you so the feedback is very much appreciated.

It is lovely to read that you found the staff so supportive and you felt your needs were met. It will mean so much to the team to read this.

How nice that your daughter experienced the unit too and she is adjusting to being a big sister.

Best wishes to you and your family

Regards

Jude Falconer
