My wife and I ended up on a consultant-led unit and endured around 36 hours of tough labour. Things didn’t go as planned and we ended up needing a caesarean section.
My anxiety and worry for my wife was off the scale, the beeping of blood pressure monitors, the medical team talking and looking concerned, my wife in pain and crying. It was all too much.
That was until a lovely anaesthetist called Clementina completely brought me and my wife down to calm again. She took away my wife’s pain and instantly connected with me, spotting I was on edge and she really went out of her way to reassure me and explain what was happening at every stage including during surgery.
If it hadn't been for her, I wouldn’t have been as calm for my wife and would have really struggled with it which would have impacted my wife too. I’ve never met a doctor so compassionate, calm, professional and caring. It really does make all the difference and she really is the epitome of what doctors should be.
I really wanted to meet her again and came back the next day but couldn’t find her so passed on feedback but I really hope she gets the message.
