I was in Glasgow royal infirmary the other day for a minor procedure under GA. From the nurses and doctors in the same day admission unit to all the highly trained anaesthetists, surgeons and staff in theatre and recovery, my experience was excellent. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, made sure everything was explained and I was comfortable throughout. Claire took good care of me as I waited to go through to theatre and kept me informed of what was happening. The anaesthetists were chatty and did everything to help me feel relaxed and not worried at all in theatre, whilst efficiently carrying out all their tests and procedures. Post op a very hard worked porter took me to ward 56 where Donna, Aimee and Abi along with all the other lovely nurses, HCSW’s and students took very good care of me until I was allowed home. I was checked on very regularly and had pain relief offered without having to ask. The housekeeping staff were equally friendly and made sure I was given food, water and tea. Special thanks to Aimee who I noticed spent time with every patient chatting about their likes and their lives whilst she carried out essential tasks. Although I wasn’t in long, I felt very cared for by everyone I came into contact with. I hope someone will pass on my thanks to them all.
