I arrived at Forth Valley Royal Hospital for the surgical removal of a chest skin lesion for a biopsy and was received immediately by the medical practitioner, who escorted me to the operating theatre. A form was completed and David, who performed the operation, advised me that the procedure would be carried out under local anaesthetic. He forewarned me that the injection of the anaesthetic would be uncomfortable, which it was, but the procedure was painless and quick.
I had advised David that I was undergoing a course of anti-coagulant injections because of a ruptured tendon, so nearing the end of the surgical procedure he cauterised the wound to arrest possible excess bleeding. There has been no bleeding. David was assisted by nurse Helen. Medical student Rana was studying the procedure. I was grateful for their action and support.
"Quick and painless procedure"
