"Caring and efficient assessment after call to maternity triage"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Having called the triage line (excellent facility, 24/7 and very helpful) I was advised to go in to check everything was ok with baby and I.

Initial checks were done and I met midwife Dee, who hooked me up to monitoring and checked on me regularly. There was also a wonderful support worker who popped in, made sure I was comfortable, provided drinks and even offered toast when it became clear I’d be there for a while.

When things became complicated Dee sought support from a registrar and consultant, arranged for my transfer to a ward to continue monitoring, and ensured I wasn’t moved until there was sufficient staffing on the ward to provide continuous care.

From the initial early evening call to triage, to my time in the assessment unit and eventual discharge from the ward in the early hours of the morning I felt listened to, cared for and respected.
