"Caring and compassion from the IBD helpline"

About: Western General Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as a service user),

I've been under the care of the GI team at the WGH, Edinburgh for many years.

Recently I have had to contact the IBD helpline on numerous occasions for advice and support on managing a flare of a chronic bowel condition. Despite the ongoing pressures within the NHS my telephone calls have always been responded to within 24 hours.

The nurse specialists who run the helpline have been so caring, compassionate and understanding. I have always felt listened to and my treatment preferences respected.

When medications have required adjusting or new ones added in they have contacted my GP for me to arrange same day prescriptions. They have phoned me on several occasions over the last few months to check how I am and arrange further follow up.

The care provided by Janice, Anna and the rest of the team is excellent and their services are so vital to their patients. Thank you for all your help over the years but especially the last few months!

Thank you Gemwad,

Many thanks
