"Good surgery poor treatment on the ward"

About: Royal Brompton Hospital

Having been moved to Brompton from another hospital for a heart bypass my surgery was planned for 2 days later after being prepared for the op it was cancelled! A relative phoned and complained as I had not been advised of a reschedule date finally received a date 3 days later which took place. I had been in the hospital waiting 5 days. Surgery and after care in the Elizabeth ward was very good. The ward care and staff in the Alexandra ward were very unfriendly. The food was dreadful I lost a stone during my stay. Luckily I recovered well and was released to go home at midday after 5 days. Unfortunately the medication took 6 hours from the pharmacy staff were unhelpful medication was poorly explained just advised to see your GP.

There is no parking at all at Brompton which makes collecting patients and visiting extremely difficult there was no offer of transport assistance. I consider it not suitable to move a patient 100 miles away for surgery it makes it extremely stressful for patient and relatives
