My elderly mum broke her wrist a few weeks ago after a fall, we went to a&e at The Ulster Hospital we were assessed at the door and I was lucky to be able to accompany her through. The waiting area was extremely busy but we checked in and were sent to minor injuries. Within minutes the doctor had seen her and sent her to get an X-ray which again was completed quickly. On returning to minor injuries the doctor had reviewed the X-ray and was ready with plaster to put cast on. The care my mum received was excellent and she felt really looked after at each part of the process. We were in and out in 30 minutes. Today we went back to the Fracturce Clinic at the Ulster - we were called at our appointment time and greeted with friendly staff and reviewed by a lovely doctor. Again we were in and out within 30 minutes. With the pressures facing the NHS and the mostly negative stories about the hospitals I wanted to share this positive experience and express my thanks to all those involved in dealing with my mum’s care.
