"Brilliant care in A & E"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Emergency Care and Medicine Services

(as a relative),

My dad was in due to accident and the staff and the care he received in A & E was brilliant.  He said they were frantically busy but still would not release him until he was fully checked.

While sitting in the waiting area I observed several individual who appeared to be drunk or intoxicated giving grief and abuse at the check in counter.

My feeling is that if they are abusive then no treatment should be given… no one should have to take that.

Hi Dervilia,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

Sorry to hear about your dad's accident, I hope he is feeling better.

Unfortunately we do experience unruly and abusive behaviour at times and our fantastic reception staff can be on the receiving end. This is reported to PSNI, incident reports are completed and we support each other as best we can during these difficult times.

Sincerely,

Fiona
