I contacted the Westmarc wheelchair service on behalf of my father. He is housebound and had a referral made by his GP in April for a wheelchair. Unfortunately the GP didn't request the correct electric chair, this was remedied, and he has been on the waiting list since then. My father is 88 next month, so time is more pressing for him. It is important that he is able to get out and about.
I called today, and was told that " unfortunately they can't give a timescale " this was the only sentence I could get from the advisor. It is extremely frustrating for anyone on a phonecall for someone to keep repeating the same line, not able to deviate from it. I am still none the wiser as to when my father will be assessed, and even when he is assessed, there's a 6 month wait for the chair. This is completely unacceptable, and barely a service at all.
"Long wait for the wheelchair service"
