"Forever in awe"

About: Maternity care (Ward 31) / Labour suite maternity Maternity care (Ward 31) / Maternity care (Ward 31)

(as the patient),

I was induced in ward 31a last week. We were looked after by midwife Erin who made the entire experience far less stressful and we will always remember her as part of our babies birth for making us feel so relaxed throughout. Erin was in our room for the majority of the evening making sure both the baby and i were coping OK, with such care and compassion. When she transferred us to labour ward it meant she was late off her shift but I could tell her priority was us and this didn't matter to her. She is an asset to maternity services!

We were then looked after on labour ward by midwife Laura & student midwife Amy who again allowed us to relax into the situation. Laura answered all of our questions and made us feel at ease. I feel I should also mention anaesthetist Ian who attended to give pain relief, Ian was incredible- very professional, caring and empathetic...exactly what we needed in this situation, he is an absolute credit to the NHS!!

We required assistance with delivery which was overwhelming and scary for both myself and my partner however we didn't get the chance to allow the stress to overcome us due to the caring and calming aura which then came next as Dr Thomson arrived to allow the safe delivery of our baby girl. He is incredible at his job, having never met him before we both felt an instant trust in him and he didn't let us down, he managed to make two very stressed parents calm in a scary situation.

We would like to recognise the care given post delivery to us by midwife Lorraine she was friendly, informative and compassionate.. ensuring we didn't miss any photo opportunity which we will cherish forever!! & student midwife Laura who was on her last shift as a student and is going to be an amazing member of her new team.

We will forever be in awe of every single person who made this journey easy for us, and hope that expecting mothers get the chance to read about our extremely positive delivery experience which was as a result of the outstanding care provided by all mentioned above- thank you!

Dear Ak92

This is a truly heart warming post to read. I am delighted to hear of the wonderful experience you have had at the RAH whilst having your baby. It is clear to see that the professionalism, dedication, caring and compassionate manner of the staff you have encountered have made for a very positive birth experience. I will be sure to share your feedback with the team here at RAH in particular the staff members you have named it will mean a lot to them that you took the time to send in this feedback. I hope you are recovering well after the birth and enjoying these precious early days together.

Best wishes

Angela Watt
