"Poor attitude from reception staff"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

There was a receptionist I found to be very rude.  They seemed annoyed that I mentioned that  every single hand sanitizer was empty.  They demanded to know if I was a patient or not. I don’t see how that’s relevant - do only patients get to use hand gel and if you’re a relative of someone very ill you don’t?

Poor cleanliness and infection control in A&E, including no soap in toilets. I felt this was a poor attitude by this reception member.

Hi Elz638

Thank you for telling us about your experience while attending the Emergency Department. I am sorry to hear it was not a positive one. I have shared your comments with the relevant teams who are responsible for Admin staff and replacing soap in the toilets and they have responded to say they will follow up.

We aim to provide a high standard of care and at the time of your attendance this did not happen for which I apologise. Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we can aim to improve.

Kind regards

Jenny

Lead Nurse ED
