After my hip replacement surgery, I cannot praise the staff enough. From the consultant, his superstar pa, the anaesthetist, surgery staff and Hasland ward staff all were friendly and kind.
Unfortunately, it was the hottest day of the year and I was not in a good way, 37degrees but there wasn't any aircon or even a single fan on the ward! Throwing up for 5 hours, after surgery, with very low blood pressure in that heat was not very much fun.
My main concern is that there is such a lack of communication between staff, so much so that I had the same conversation at least 4 times about meds which was still changed at the last minute. I did feel bullied regarding medication even though I had full backing of my consultant. All in all, if there was a bit more cohesive thinking, this hospital would be great, the staff are lovely. Maybe new caterers too as the food is dire, I would rather have 1 decent course rather than 3 awful ones.
