"Surprised by the level of care and attention I have received"

I was brought into the emergency department on Friday – my time in the department was pretty good. I was seen very quickly and went from being triaged to having bloods and scans done rather quickly. Overall I found that the staff in the emergency department (ED) were very methodical and definitely had a process of doing things. I was waiting for a bed up on the medical ward for a while but I didn’t mind this wait.

Since arriving on the ward everything has been very good. I was very surprised by the level of care and attention I have received. I am so happy that I have a side room as I have an underlying condition so it was really nice that the staff put this extra safety measure in place to help keep me as healthy as possible. I have been made feel very comfortable and welcome and the nurse’s bedside manner is amazing. Jessica is so good, she has been amazing; putting up with my requests and questions and Grainne is also lovely, she came and chatted to me for a while and the pair of them are incredibly patient and I really appreciate them.

The food is also ok, it’s a lot better than I expected.
